holidays are over ! :(

So, I'm back at work today :( Actually my holidays felt like they lasted a really long time and they didn't fly by as usual! ? Although I am awfully tired today, the dog kept me up for most of the night. I think her fur is starting to grow in and it is itchy but she can't scratch it so I have become her own personal bum/ leg scratcher! ;) Either that or she has just become more of a sucky dog and just wanted me to pet her!? I'm not sure but she kept head butting the bed so that I would pet her!? Apparently the hubby didn't even notice! grrrrr

So to wrap up my holidays, Friday I re-arranged our bedroom so that now the bed is away from the window and the heat register is not covered by the bed. Then my mom came over bearing gifts for the dog and some nice warm fuzzy socks for me! I can't remember what I did Saturday!? Probably nothing! he he Sunday was so nice outside, but I decided to go through the filing cabinet and shred old papers and organize it a bit better so I was stuck inside. And on Monday we had our absolute last race of the year! And boy was it busy!! Lots of cars showed up to make their final trips down the track and thankfully they all left pretty early too so we went out for dinner with some of the staff. When I got home there was a delivery at our back door, I had forgotten that we were getting our up-right deep freeze that day!! Yah! Now we just have to get it downstairs!

So we ended up doing nothing for Thanksgiving, no turkey dinners, no ham, no family festivities. We were OK with that though it was nice just doing our own thing. Hopefully everyone else had good Turkey day, everyone in Canada that is!?

Tuesday .....

Well my holidays are going good so far, I am starting to get a little nervous about the dogs surgery. :( My weekend was good, it was our last weekend full of racing!! The race season is officially over, just in time too - everyone was getting tired of being out there. Now we just have the banquet to go to which I can hardly wait for!! I went for a ride down the track in one of the guys race car during our "fun day" Saturday, his car is much faster then our car was and it was quite a thrill to feel what it was like to go that fast! Usually when you have a passenger in your car you're only suppose to go 1/8 mile instead of the full 1/4 mile but Lorne kept his foot in it and we ended up going 10.3 in the 1/4 mile @ 132 miles/hour!! I gave him crap that he didn't shut it down half track but it was still kinda fun! ;)

I didn't have time to go shopping on Saturday cause I slept in too late! :o So instead I went shopping yesterday, I found some gift cards that we got as wedding gifts two years ago and thought that I should spend them before they expire or I loose them! So I bought the hubby some new pants and looked for the little couch I wanted to buy for the dog but was having a hard time finding one! I looked at Zellers, Toys R Us, and Wal-Mart and all they had were one seater couches like a love seat, which would be way too small for my dog! So instead I just bought another "dog bed" from the pet store.

I was also shopping for my "die cutter" and went to Michaels to find one but they were all sold out and the price on theirs was soooo expensive ($399) I asked if I could use one of the 40% off coupons but they said that you can't use those coupons on the "Cricut" cutter products!! But when I was at Wal-Mart looking for the couch I looked in their craft center and they had the exact same cutter for half the price!! So I picked it up from them and I bought some of the "Cricut" paper to try out the cutter with! Of course as soon as I got home I had to set it up and try it out! It is so easy to use, I really like it and think it will make some really nice cards and scrapbook decorations! Now I just have to buy more programs for it so I can cut more shapes! I also haven't quite figured out yet how I am going to attach the cut pieces onto paper? It cuts some of the patterns so skinny that there isn't really much room for the tape method I use on my scrapbooks and I'm not sure if I use a glue stick if it will leave glue marks everywhere ?~ I'll just have to play around some more with it!

So not only do I have to weigh in tomorrow but I also have to drop the dog off at the vets! I want to do some visiting while out in St.Albert so I should probably call them today to make sure they are free! ? I am now off to do some grocery shopping, it is the first Tuesday of the month and we get 10% off so we usually make this our big shoppping day! Then when I get home hopefully it will be a little warmer out and I can clean out my flower beds and paint the shed! ?

weekend review

I was awfully tired this morning and almost slept in, it's a good thing I had a shower last night cause there was no time this morning! The weekend was good, full of racing and nothing too exciting happened which is good. We were having some issues with moisture on the track, due to all the rain we have had recently and because the track is built on swamp land the water table seems to be quite high so we kept having to check the track for water making the day seem a lot longer then it should have been!

I have a busy week as well and don't think I will have any time to rest, I need to get everything ready for my b-day party this weekend and since we have bowling on Thursday night and a Street Legal race on Friday night plus I'm suppose to work Saturday morning it looks like the only time I will have to do anything is the beginning of the week!? I need to make a salad and chili, clean the house, wash the sheets in the spare room and go grocery shopping for other snack food! I think I will opt out of working on Sat. I just have way too much to do, the hubby offered to help but I have other plans for him!! he he ... He needs to do all the outdoor stuff like finish working on the POS in the garage, clean up the driveway, mow the lawn and finish the shed!! All this needs to be done by Wed ... crazy! :P

On a lighter note ..... I snuck a peak at the scale ... I know I shouldn't have and it usually makes for bad news on weigh in day but so far the scale says I'm back down to 170 so maybe that +5lb gain was from too much wine!? I also feel a little better now, my queasiness has seamed to settle and my back ache has moved up and now my teeth seem to be sore - weird !? ? Maybe it was a mild case of the flu ? Hopefully I'll be 100% by Friday!! ;)

weekend review

So I am now wondering "WHAT THE HELL WAS I THINKING &*#^@!?" -- the weekend was a complete disaster, well maybe not a disaster but I am definitely feeling the effects of it today! I ended up getting off work early on Thursday and was quite excited to get out to the track and get started, so I went home, ate dinner, grabbed the dog and headed to the track. Well when I got out there my hubby was busy parking trailers (something he wasn't suppose to be doing) and I just walked around looking at all the cars (the first and only time I was able to walk around the pits). The original plan was that I was suppose to be the person that goes around, fills in for breaks, hands out bag lunches, water and do what ever else needs to be done. I just didn't want to be stuck doing the same position for the entire weekend (16 hours/ day). Boy was I fooled!

The track manager recommended that Friday morning I just go up to the tower and work till noon, then hand out bag lunches and start filling in for breaks. I thought this was a perfect idea cause then I get to do a little bit of tower work but not all day. Well when I got in the tower they inform me that if I choose to start doing tower now (Friday morning), I will be doing it all day and everyday! No switching off, no breaks, no changing - I will be stuck there for 16 hours everyday! So I suppose the good news is that they kinda gave me the option to do it or not, but if I choose not to do the tower then that meant that one of their people had to do it and I thought that it was probably better for me to do it!? So I did agree and commit myself to the entire weekend of sitting in the tower, so it's partially my own fault but I still feel as if they tricked me. I was especially ticked off when the track manager came up to me, after I had agreed to commit myself to the tower all weekend, and snickered as she passed me so I asked what was so funny and she said - "oh, you thought you could just come out here and slack off, do nothing and putz around all day. But not anymore, now you have to work." Then the other tower lady that was suppose to switch off with me says "yeah, I get to slack off now" !! I was shocked :o I felt like it was their plan the whole time, tell me that I can do the job I want and then trick me so that I get stuck doing the job that no one wants. I have to say that I didn't agree to commit myself to the tower job for them, it was definitely for the racers! And I'm hoping that I did a good enough job that everyone was happy, but next year ...... is a completely different story! I will definitely NOT be taking time off my real job to go out there and get abused! I had a radio in the tower that had this head piece you wear around you ears (it had arms like a pair of glasses you hook around you ears) anyway my ears are so sore today, I swear I have blisters behind them! Every time I answer the phone it hurts!

For the most part the weekend went fairly good, no big incidences, Friday was

the best day for staying on schedule. Saturday was a little worse, with cars breaking and having to do clean up it delayed the program a little but not as bad as last night. Last night was horrible, not only did we have cars breaking - which makes for a delay too clean it up, but it rained and it rained ALOT! We had a 2 hour delay because of the rain -- good news is that we were able to finish off the "fast/ show" cars before the rain but the bad news is that the program had to be finished! So at 10:30pm we were ready to race again! We didn't finish last night till 1:00am and after I packed up the trailer and drove home it was 2:00 in the morning!!! :O I think I was the only one that did not book today off, so after 4 1/2 hours of sleep I am at work and boy am I ever tired!!!

So I don't think they can plan on having me back there to work a National event ever again! I didn't even have enough time to run back to the trailer and warm up hot dogs, I had to eat them raw/ cold!!! We brought burgers out with us for dinner but never had time to cook them so Fat Free hot dogs was my lunch AND dinner!! I'm so sick of hot dogs and don't think I'll ever eat another raw/ cold wiener EVER! :P I didn't get to drink half the water I should have because I was worried I would take too many pee breaks. I feel hung over today maybe it's the lack of sleep or maybe I'm dehydrated, what ever it is I feel like crap! :( Early to bed tonight!

Weekend review

Hopefully everyone had a good weekend, I know I had a fairly good and very nice long weekend! ;) Canada Day was great, our community puts on a firework show that we usually go to just cause it's so close to home and we can walk there. There are less people that attend this show then the one downtown which is something both me and hubby like! Neither one of us is a crowd person.

I finished all my painting that I wanted to get done and almost ran out of paint. The garage doors look 100 times better being white and the fence looks almost new again! Now if only our lawyer would hurry up and settle the shed issue we could side our garage and have it match the house! I weeded my garden and got a grocery bag full of weeds!! But it looks good now! I also got most of my cleaning done and only have the floors left to wash.

The hubby did end up working out at the track all weekend and I guess there was very little excitement. The only thing he told me was that the lady they had doing my job was horrible! She spend more time gabbing then she did working which caused lots of mistakes. Apparently I'm not allowed to have anymore days off! he he It kinda makes me feel good that this other lady messed up so bad but then I feel a little guilty cause it made the track look bad, like they hired this idiot that doesn't know what she is doing!? I guess the drag manager was apologizing to all the bikers saying that this lady wasn't the usual tower person and that she had to give me a day off! I feel more like an asset now, maybe next year I can get a raise! ;)

I had a near death experience on Friday!! No kidding!! I have never been more scared then I was at that moment! Friday after work I headed to the track for
the Street Legal races and being the Friday of a long weekend the traffic was a little more congested then usual. In order to get to the track you have to turn left off the highway which sometimes requires you to stop on the highway until it is clear to turn. Well, this is what happened on Friday, I had to stop on the highway ... wait for on coming traffic to clear ... so I could turn onto the facility. Well as I'm sitting there waiting I glance in my rear view mirror and see this truck behind me that is not slowing down, he's not stopping!!! So I pumped my brakes in hopes that maybe he sees my lights flashing but he still seems to be traveling way too fast! I inch my way onto on coming traffic (crossing the center line) and at last minute this idiot swerves around me!! I swear I felt my car rock back and forth as he passed me!! I almost peed my pants! I guess I looked as white as a ghost when I pulled up! I was so scared, It just keeps playing over in my head. I hate that feeling, thankfully the guy went around me but It was close! soooo scary!

weekend review

Well it was a pretty exciting weekend, Friday's street legal races were cancelled due to rain so instead we went over to the hubbies Grandma's house for cake. I was talking to my MIL and mentioned how I already made "my salad" but apparently there was a little confusion cause she had also made the same salad!! :( So after our visit we stopped at the grocery store and picked up some veggies so I could make a different salad. That night I stayed at home making the second salad and hubby went downtown. I had to work Saturday, which was extremely boring but at least I got my desk all cleaned! ;) It looks really good now, my keyboard almost looks brand new! ;) After work we headed over to the in-laws for the birthday party! The weather co-operated so everyone sat outside, my MIL put on a good meal (turkey, ham, potatoes, tons of salads, and fruit/ veggie trays!) She also made these slushy drinks that were melon flavored and tasted really good, so I had a few! ;) and then she made some pina coladas which were also really good, so I had a few of them too! Good thing there was lots of food to eat cause those drinks were starting to hit me pretty hard!! So needless to say I think I over did it on Sat, with all the drinks I had and the extra servings of cheese and crackers, it was well worth it and I had a lot of fun but now I have 3 days to be 100% and get back on track!! ;) We ended up staying way later then we had planned but had a good visit with all of the hubbies uncles and even threw one of them in the hot tub!

We had to get up early Sunday to get to the track, apparently the day before (Sat) was a nightmare and they never stopped racing till 8:30pm!!! AND they never even finished any of the rounds! Sunday wasn't much better, the
ambulance got called into the pits twice (due too injuries), one guy was on his quad and they figure his tow strap got tangled in the axle making the quad come to a fast stop and the guy fell off breaking BOTH his legs!! Then there was another guy in the pits that thought he would try to tune his kids car by sticking his leg threw the window to step on the gas and the car fell off the stands making the car jolt forward almost snapping his knee cap off but instead only dislocated it!! So we were forced to wait for the ambulance to attend to these guys and wait for another ambulance to come get the injured guys! It was a long night, not quite as bad as Sat I guess, we never finished racing till 7:15pm! I'm going to have to start bringing suppers on Sunday if this keeps up, I was awfully hungry by the time we got home! After I finished supper I scanned a few pics to post on Facebook!! I can't wait to play around with them today! :)

TGIF !

So as long as it doesn't rain this afternoon we will be going to the race track tonight for Street Legals. However this will be the only time we go to the race track this weekend! :) I'm totally looking forward to sleeping in on Sat. and Sun!! Although I don't want to sleep the whole day away and I do have plans. I would like to catch up on some cleaning that has been missed over the past few weeks, like washing the sheets, washing windows and cleaning floors. Plus I would also like to get a hair cut, I feel like Mr.Mugs, I hate when my hair is in my face - I desperately need my bangs cut! I would also like to do a little shopping on Sat. for new pants and a few summer tops. I received my cheque from the insurance company the other day and the hubby says I get to spend $500 of it!! WOW - I don't think I will, I'm much too cheap to spend that much money on myself! I will probably only spend $200 and put the rest towards bills!?!
On Sunday we plan on going visiting, cause we haven't done it for a really long time, and stopping at the in-laws after to give the FIL his Father's Day gift. Then we are headed to my brothers for a BBQ for my Dad, I need to bring "my salad" so I will be making that on Sat. night. I'm excited to go see my brother, not that I'm excited to see him but more that I'm excited to see the kids! I wish we lived closer and I could visit them more often!
I'm sooooo grouchy lately! Especially at work, I'm not sure why but I feel like I need a break!? I just had holidays, everything here frustrates me, I feel like my boss is "baby sitting" me - always listening in to my phone calls with customers and doesn't let me try to find things on my own. He will automatically pop his head out of his office and answer my question or interrupt my conversation. And if a customer walks in he jumps out of his chair too see what they need, I feel like he doesn't think I can do the job!? I'm sure he only does it to be helpful but to be frank it annoys the hell out of me! I heard on the radio this morning that they are raising minimum wage again to $8 which also boils my blood! WTF ?? When do I get a raise? I did just get a raise but it was so pathetic they may as well not even bothered!? I think I would be better off to quit and get re-hired, I would probably end up making more !? A lot of people are quiting and not because the company sucks but only because they need to go where the money's at. I work for a smaller company that honestly can't compete with the larger companies or dealerships when it comes to wages. However because this company is so much smaller they treat you as a member of their family and not just a number, like larger companies tend to do. So it's kinda a toss up .... smaller company = smaller wage but you get treated like a family member OR larger company = larger wage but upper management doesn't even know your name!? Maybe I'll feel better after a weekend off! ? Or at least you can hope !! ;)

From bad to worse .....

What a long, busy, and eventful weekend! Of course it was a race weekend so it is all race related - Friday was pretty typical, all the street cars were hot lapping the track and nothing too exciting happened.

Saturday was our big Fox Hunt drag race where they try to encourage women to come out to the track so they get in for half price. This day was full of "exhibition cars" and was packed full of racing. Everything was ticking along great, on time and no down time (a very rare thing). Until 5:00 when it started pouring rain!! The opening ceremonies were suppose to start at 6:15 but unfortunately after we finished cleaning the track it was already 7:00 and the show must go on! While we were waiting for the rain to stop and track to dry there was an incident in the pits, one of the very experienced crew members from a show car team got his hand caught in a blower belt and almost ripped his hand off! Thankfully we always have a ambulance at the track and they were quick too asses his injury. We found out the next day that he did in fact loose three fingers but they were able to save his pinkie and thumb! It's amazing at how fast someones life can change like that!

After that it seemed like the day just got worse, we had a couple cars hit the wall and one of them rolled!! Then a couple cars oiled the track, which created "down time" while we cleaned up the mess. Needless to say we had to cut the show short and didn't finish any of the eliminations! Half way through the night we had the jet cars come out to do their show, thankfully one of the guys on the starting line noticed that one of them was leaking jet fuel all over the track and they rushed in front of him to shut him down! If they had not noticed that-- there would have been a huge ball of fire at the starting line and all of them would have been engulfed in flames!!! It was a very scary weekend, full of lots of close calls! It started to rain again at 11:30pm so we called the show and shut down for the night. Sunday was pretty much the same, lots of cars breaking making the race last forever! Plus we had to finish off all the eliminations from the night before. We didn't finish Sunday until 7:00 and we never even finished doing the "King of the Hill" eliminations!! I'm so tired today, I did NOT want to wake up this morning! Thankfully I get the next three Saturday's off!! :)

~~ Busy weekend ~~

This weekend was quite busy, just the beginning of a busy summer I think! It rained all day Friday so the races got cancelled. Saturday I had to work at my day job which was incredible boring, except for the fight I got into with one of our drivers! She is double my age and half as mature, it was quite exciting! And now of course today is a little tens and feels awkward between us!? Oh well, I'm on holiday's next week -- I just have to get through this week and then I can relax for a whole week.... kinda!? I do have some "spring cleaning" I would like to do that week and a couple other projects I would like to get done but I'm sure the week will fly by and I won't be able to get half the things done that I want!

Thankfully I was able to get most of my house cleaning done after work on Saturday cause Sunday was a full day at the track. Here is a picture of my new summer weekend home. It is the drag tower, where I sit all day and type the car numbers into the computer. It was really nice out, the sun was hot but the air was cold so that means fast cars and lots of breaking! Because of all the rain we had over the past week we were having a hard time getting all the sensors working, eventually we just gave up and only got the "important" ones working! The regular lady that works in the tower with me was not there yesterday so I had to work with a new lady, who supposedly does the computer work all the time but just in a different city. Well every time I asked her to help me so I could run to the bathroom I would come back to a world of confusion! She messed it all up! grrr - no more bathroom breaks for me when she's there! This coming weekend should be a challenge for me, we will most likely be staying out at the track for the entire weekend, which means I need to pack all my clothes and meals for 3 straight days plus I also need to make sure all the dogs things are packed (food, dishes, treats, and meds)!! I need to pack foods that are easy to eat without needing to be warmed up for lunches and I also need to pack foods that are easy to make for dinners. I'm still trying to figure out how I will cook my veggies for supper, microwaving would probably be the easiest and the quickest but then we have to go buy a small microwave for the trailer! But like I've said before ... we do live close enough to the track that if need be I could run home for what ever reason.

Needless to say I was quite tired this morning with all the things going on over the weekend, the drive to work was almost a mini-challenge on it's own! Early to bed tonight! LOL

I'm not even 30 yet or have kids! I don't know how I'm going to survive off of less then 8 hours of sleep when we have kids! ? he he

I watched the finale of Amazing Race last night and I must say that I am happy with who won, I didn't really want the 'little person' team to win, I found them to be quite rude and obnoxious!? And the blonde's weren't much better! I think the team that won deserved it, they got "yielded" twice and seemed to have a way harder time then the other teams when it came to flights and taxi's!? Now I don't know what I'm going to do on Sunday nights!

Fun Friday!

Well I braved the elements yesterday and after supper I took the dog for her walk! It wasn't too bad, I found an umbrella in our trailer and a wind breaker type jacket that kept a lot of the rain off. I think it was more of a work out drying off the dog when we got home then the whole walk was!? I wish I had a rain coat for her, like this dog! LOL I could not believe the number of worms we saw on our walk, it was disgusting! Like little snakes all over the sidewalk! Ewwww - I tried hard not to step on any but there was just too many! I think we have a worm epidemic, last fall it was ants and now it looks like this spring it's worms! Now don't get me wrong I don't mind worms
but I believe that there is a place for them ....like in the garden and only in the garden! I think if I had a little boy he would have been outside collecting a bucket full of those slimy little creatures!

They cancelled the Street Legal race that was suppose to go on tonight, no surprise -- it's just way too wet. I think the track needs to re-evaluate their summer schedule and start later /finish later. They always plan the first race too early and I don't think they ever get to run it cause the weather just doesn't co-operate and then in the fall when we could still be racing the season is over!?

So as you probably know, I started my food journal and I have been recording everything I eat on SparkPeople, I'm not sure if I like it? So far it says that on Wednesday I ate 1907 calories!! and Thursday wasn't much better at 1666 calories!! YIKES Seems a little high to me? I don't think that I can be loosing weight eating that many calories!? I'll keep recording my meals for this week and see what my weigh in says, maybe it is right? I have been eating more meals "on my own" - maybe I'm just not that great at counting calories!? Which is probably why I didn't do too good when I tried Weight Watchers!?

I brought one of my mango's today for my afternoon snack, I'll have to keep you updated with how that goes!? It still seemed a little firm when I cut it up this morning so I brought an extra apple just in case it's not ripe enough yet! he he.

I also just want to say that I now realize I have a new addiction ..... FACEBOOK -- It is so addicting, I keep checking it to see if there are any new friends that I know or if anyone wrote on my wall! Seriously if you haven't checked it out and signed up you totally should and I completely blame Michelle for my new addiction! thanks ;)

Rain, rain go away ...

This is what the drive to work looked like today, very foggy! And very humid, it is suppose to rain for the next couple of days. In a way it is nice because the rain will help clean up all the gravel and dirt left over from the winter, make the grass grow and turn a nice shade of green but it also sucks cause it isn't nice to walk in the rain. I haven't taken the dog for her walk for two days now! She is going nuts in the house and needs to get out, I promised her that no matter what I will take her for a walk today!! Maybe I can find an umbrella like the one in this pic so that she doesn't get as wet when it's raining!? LOL

Tomorrow is suppose to be the first Street Legal race of the season but I doubt we will be racing. I still have to get in the trailer and clean it out and I still need to take our sleeping bags to the dry cleaners! That is the plan for Saturday, I have to work (at my full time job) so I will have time in the afternoon to take on the trailer and run to the dry cleaners. I think it will be a challenge for me to make sure I still eat healthy on the weekends I'm working at the track, on Fridays I will have to bring my supper with me to work and eat it on the way to the track so I will have to find something that is not only easy to eat on the go but is simple enough that I don't have to eat hot!? I may have to switch my dinners and lunches around and I will have to make sure that I pack my meals for the rest of the weekend on Thursday. I think it will be a lot more work this year then previous years but eventually I will get into the habit and just know what to take. I'm trying to convince the hubby that we should bring a microwave out to the track with us just cause it will be easier to cook veggies and lunches in a hurry. He says we don't really have a power supply out there big enough to power a microwave but then I reminded him about our generator!! It's big enough to power a little ole' microwave! he he The good thing about it is that we only live about 20min from the track so worst case scenario I can always run home if I forget something.

When I was grocery shopping on Tuesday they had Mango's on sale for a buck! I have had mango's before but they are already cut and prepared (like in a can), so I was a little unsure on how to pick a good mango but I figured for a buck I couldn't go wrong. Now I'm a little unsure on how to eat it!? Does it peel like a orange or is it like a melon that you scoop out the guts!? I thought I would Google it and share the info with you, in case you were also curious!?

--Never buy completely green mangoes, as they may never ripen. Under ripe mangoes can have an unpleasant chemical taste if eaten raw. When buying, no fragrant aroma most likely means no flavor.

--There is no trick to getting the flesh off a mango easily - it can be very messy. Peel and then cut the flesh off around the pit as best you can. The pit is flat, so try to cut the flesh off along the flat side of the pit. Then just nibble the rest off the pit. Its messy, but absolutely delicious.OR - Get a MANGO SPLITTER

--SELECTION - Choose firm plump mango's that give slightly when pressure is applied. Avoid those with bruised or dry and shriveled skin. The ripeness of mango's can be determined by either smelling or squeezing. A ripe mango will have a full, fruity aroma emitting from the stem end. Mango's can be considered ready to eat when slightly soft to the touch and yield to gentle pressure. The best-flavored fruit have a yellow tinge when ripe; however, color may be red, yellow, orange, green, or any combination.

--Never burn mango leaves or branches, the toxic fumes can cause serious irritation to the eyes and lungs.

--Be very careful of the stem end of mango's if any part of the branch or leaf is attached, as the sap can cause allergic reactions.

Thursday --

So we had our meeting for the race track the other night and they seem to have lots of new ideas in mind for this year. They have also been doing or plan on doing some improvements to the grounds! They plan on adding more suites on the drag side, improving the lounge, adding a real coffee shop with 'healthy' snacks and upgrading the bathrooms!!! Their bathrooms were horrible out there - because it is a race track it is situated outside of the city close to the airport (too many people complain about the noise and pollution when it was in the city). So because of this it was like going to a camp, just recently they got running water for the bathrooms (before all they had were outhouses) and the water that they did have in the bathroom was ice cold cause there was no hot water tank! The toilets were constantly getting plugged either from idiot people that thought it was fun!? or because the toilet was just a piece of junk!?

I have been interested in getting more hours with the track - cause I'm money hungry and could always use a few extra bucks! So we talked to the manager last night who also wants me and the hubby to work more or at least come out more to help fill in for breaks and be kind of a floater!? I think being a floater will be fun cause I'm not stuck doing the same job all day, sitting at a desk typing in numbers! I did mention to her that the only issue I had was with pay and how last years pay was crap! She agreed and asked how much I would like to get -- I absolutely hate this question! I always seem to under cut myself cause I don't want to sound greedy by saying some outrageous number! So I spit out $50 an event - WTH was I thinking! Grrr -- clearly I wasn't thinking, $50 stinks too! I don't want $50 an event that's still crap pay!! It's still works out to less then minimum wage, I hate my big mouth! I hate when I open my big mouth without thinking first - and I seem to do it a lot (un-intentional of course)!! She was so quick to say OK to my stupid $50 an event that I felt like an idiot! Now how am I going to tell her that I was stupid and actually I want more .... like $75 an event!! @#(*&@ DUH !! ((sigh))

On a plus note, everyone (on the drag side) commented on my new look and weight loss! I love being able to dress up a little and feel good about the way I look - I love being able to impress people and have them look at me different. But I still feel really awkward when they start to talk to me about it and ask questions! I sometimes wish that people would just talk amongst themselves and I would just know that I look better - I don't need everyone telling me that! But if no one did I would wonder what the problem was! ? !? It's tough, or maybe it's just me being weird!? ? I was surprised at how many people made it sound like I was a failure for not being able to loose weight on my own and that I had to go to a company that supplied food to help!? Just the things they were saying, it would go something like this:

"Wow, you look good! You were busy this winter! How did you do it?"

So I would reply....

"oh, thanks- I am on Nutrisystem"

and then they would say something like...

"OH - Well .... whatever works I guess" or "well, I'm a firm believer in going to places that help you loose" ? ??

I probably would have never even said NS if it wasn't for the fact that I told a lady last year that I had joined and she started some crazy diet (similar to Atkins) where you are only allowed X amount of carbs for so long then you can slowly bring them in and she had these powdered 'energy' drinks? It clearly didn't work for her, since she looked like she had gained back all the weight she lost before winter and was back to where she was a year ago!? She is a super nice lady and we do get along so I do feel bad for her, I just think it was a crazy diet that isn't meant to be long term - there is no way a normal person could live on that diet for life! She gave me a bunch of these to try:

They are coffee sweeteners that are flavored like Mocha, French Vanilla and Hazelnut! They are not available in Canada yet and I was anxiously waiting to try them! Because they are made by Splenda they are 0 calories and I absolutely love hazelnut in my coffee! Unfortunately that was the only flavor she didn't have but I tried the French Vanilla one last night and I'm not sure if I liked it? I missed the "cream" flavor, the coffee looked like a black coffee but smelt like a French Vanilla! I felt the need to add milk to it just to get the cream flavor!? Kinda defeats the purpose in using it?! I also needed to use 2 packets in my coffee just to get enough to taste, I'm not sure if I would buy these when they do become available to us Canadians, it did taste OK but I still really like my FF Hazelnut creamer! This lady did mention that her daughter likes to put the french vanilla one in her plain yogurt to give it a boost and I think this would be a great idea! The one tiny little pack of french vanilla made my kitchen smell great! The smell was much stronger then the taste.

First week of playoffs!

Last night was our first week of playoffs and guess how good we did!? We are 2nd! ..... 2nd last !! :( BOO Everyone had horrible games we only got over 1000 once (the last game), the second game we only got 839!! For those of you that don't know - that's crap !! The good news is that we still have next week to try and do better and maybe gain some pins! I suppose it doesn't really matter too much on what position we finish in for the playoffs cause we won Grand Aggregate and get to pick our prizes first but it would still be nice to pick our second batch of prizes before some other teams. I also found out the other night that my hubby won't be able to attend the bowling banquet with me cause we paid money to have a table at one of the car shows here so he needs to be there and work his booth! It's all good though, I don't mind - it just means that have to pick his prizes and I also have to pick my FIL prizes. I'll need one of those luggage carts just to get all our prizes to the car! ;) I'm so glad bowling season is over, it's starting to get nice out now and going bowling is the last thing I feel like doing when it's nice out!

We are having a BBQ today at work, one of our drivers is leaving to do the highway run (still with us but just not at our store) - of course he was the best driver we had. Hopefully things will run smooth without him here! So I'm going to have my first BBQ hamburger of the season!! I can smell them cooking back there as I type this and can hardly wait to bite down on one! YUM

So my mom was wondering ..... I keep talking about how my hubby is working in the garage, so she was wondering WTH is he doing out there? And since he is the handy kind of guy that he is, he could be working on just about anything. Well his big project lately has been his car, for those of you that don't know, my hubby likes to drag race. I've personally never even been to a race track before I met him and I never really had the urge to go fast. I am definitely not a speed junkie like he is. So this is our race car: (sorry for the tiny pic- it's the only one I could find on the computer) It is a 1977 Chevy Nova with a 400cu engine and it's fastest run was 11.92 (105mph) in the 1/4 mile -- (I think got that right? - if not I'll find out tonight) ;)

So being the speed junkie that he is, of course he wanted it to go a little faster - like a few seconds faster!! Which doesn't sound like much but when you are already doing 105mph @ 11.92 seconds in a 1/4 mile .... a few more seconds could be insane! This is what he is doing to his car now:

He has cut out just about all the tin on the car (mostly to lighten it up - I think?) He had a pretty good 'cage' in it already but for us it is always a safety thing (you can never be safe enough) so he is putting in a better cage one that could withstand anything! This car will be 100% different then what it looked like last year. It will not only have better parts in it but it will go faster and will be safer. This is a project that will take us a few years to get complete (if ever). There will always be something better or something might break (God forbid) and we will have to upgrade. I think the goal for now is 2 1/2 years for it to be back at the race track! So for now we will just be working at the track during the summer months and hopefully be back to race in a few years!

Here is your fun for the day!! This totally describes me to a T !! Once again Blogspot amazes me! ; ) Check it out and see if it gets you right too!?
